Driving in southern California can be exhilarating or extremely stressful, depending on where you drive and what traffic conditions you encounter. If there is a crash on your route, you could get delayed for quite some time, which can throw a wrench in your schedule. You could plan your route differently to try to avoid getting stuck in back-ups from collisions or, even worse, getting involved in an accident yourself if you knew where most of these crashes happen.

This blog will attempt to answer the question, what are the most dangerous intersections in southern California? If you get injured in a motor vehicle accident that was someone else’s fault, a Los Angeles car accident attorney could handle your injury claim so that you can rest and recuperate.

The Scope of the Crash Issue

In Los Angeles alone, there were 86 intersections in which there were at least 10 crashes that involved injuries or deaths between 2020 and 2022, according to MoneyGeek. Five of the worst intersections are in South Central LA. The other 81 intersections are spread out across LA.

The dubious honor of most dangerous intersection goes to the intersection of S. Vermont Avenue and W. Florence Avenue. There were 19 injury or fatal crashes at that location. The entire downtown area could be considered dangerous from an intersection collision perspective, since there were over 900 crashes there with injuries or deaths.

Here are some of the most dangerous intersections in Los Angeles for injury and fatal crashes:

  1. S. Vermont Avenue and W. Florence Avenue, in the Vermont-Slauson neighborhood, with 19 collisions involving injuries or death.
  2. W. Manchester Avenue and S. Normandie Avenue in the Manchester Square neighborhood, with 18 injury or fatal crashes.
  3. Victory Boulevard and Lindley Avenue in the Reseda neighborhood, with 18 injury or fatal collisions.
  4. W. Manchester Avenue and S. Vermont Avenue in the Vermont Knolls neighborhood, with 18 crashes that involved injuries or fatalities.
  5. E. Manchester Avenue and Avalon Boulevard in the Florence neighborhood, with 18 injury or fatal accidents.

The five neighborhoods with the most crashes in intersections are downtown, Van Nuys, Westlake, Historic South-Central, and Florence.

What to Do If You Get Injured in a Car Crash in Southern California

Sometimes, car accidents happen, no matter how carefully you drive. Other drivers might be distracted or negligent in some other way. If you suffer an injury or your loved one dies because of a collision in southern California, you might be able to pursue a personal injury or wrongful death claim for your losses.

You should get medical attention right away and complete your medical treatment. Keep detailed records of the expenses you paid and what you experienced through the different stages of healing.

Your personal injury claim could include monetary damages for your medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other losses. In a wrongful death claim, the family could seek additional compensation for their losses.
